Notes
What you see
Simon Rogan's restaurant in Cartmel, Cumbria. The first screen is footage of the food with the name set large over it — no tagline, no paragraph. Vertical tabs run down both edges: "SIMON ROGAN" on the left, "RESERVATION" on the right.
The menu covers Dine, Stay, FAQs, Shop, Our Farm and Contact. A newsletter strip sits right under the video. The body is brief: how to pronounce the name ([lã.klym], French for "the anvil"), a few photographs and a news list that includes the December and January opening hours. The footer gives the address, coordinates, phone, email and the group's other restaurants.
What to take from it
If the food is the argument, show the food and stop talking. The reservation entry point does not need to be a large button in the middle of the photograph — a tab on the edge of the screen is always visible and never in the way.
The pronunciation line is a small, generous touch. A name people cannot say is a name they will not recommend.
